Coming back from lockdown...

We have all found the last few months very strange, having to shut our nursery to many of the children was one of the toughest things we have ever had to do. We were very proud however of being one of the few settings across BANES that did remain open throughout the pandemic lockdown to provide care for the frontline service workers children. Our staff did this with so much care and compassion despite feeling anxious and scared themselves. The children that attended enjoyed having a calmer and quieter nursery which helped ease their feelings of anxiety in the strange times we were facing also. We enjoyed sharing many home learning activities, songs, stories and wake and shakes on our social media pages and we learnt how to ensure our nursery would be even safer for when we were able to return.

Lockdown taught us to be grateful for the little things we all enjoyed finding local walks, family and friend quizzes, clapping on a Thursday night, family time and the sunshine helped! Our staff were able to complete training from home and we were able to get our Chilcompton site ready to open. Peasedown also had a deep clean inside and out.

Getting the news that we could open again fully on the 1st of June was brilliant. For us, it is so important that children are able to access their nursery education and socialisation and it has been so lovely welcoming all of them back into the nurseries. We have seen a real change in the children and most of all have been overwhelmed by how settled they have all been returning to nursery. We think it shows how important it is to the children’s daily lives. We have implemented many measures to ensure the nursery is safe for the children’s return and these have become part of all of our daily routines now.

We have made an informative video on all these implementations if you would like to watch it:https://youtu.be/qr1w0LabOWY

So this blog is really about welcoming you all back, thanking you for your continued support and kindness and celebrating getting through a really tough time…… After every storm, there is a rainbow of hope xxx
